Barcelona lost their first La Liga game at the Nou Camp since September 2016 as goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen made a shocking howler in the 4-3 defeat to Real Betis. There were shades of former Liverpool keeper Loris Karius’ infamous mistake against Real Madrid in the Champions League final as Giovani Lo Celso sealed a stunning win for Betis.
| GOAL! | Real Betis are 3-1 up at the Camp Nou! That is a howler from Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Game over? pic.twitter.com/SBRkUolIJE— Eleven Sports (@ElevenSports_UK) November 11, 2018Lo Celso’s effort was hit straight at ter Stegen but, much like Karius in Kiev, the Barca keeper flapped at the ball and watched with horror as it sailed into the net.First-half goals from Junior and Joaquin gave the visitors a 2-0 lead before Lionel Messi, returning from a fractured arm, pulled one back from the penalty spot midway through the second half. Barcelona went 3-1 down courtesy of ter Stegen’s error and although substitute Arturo Vidal reduced the deficit on 79 minutes, Ivan Rakitic was sent off moments later and Sergio Canales made it 4-2 soon after.Messi finished off a flowing move in stoppage time to make it 4-3, but Betis held on to inflict Barcelona’s first defeat at the Nou Camp in La Liga since they lost 2-1 to Alaves over two years ago.And fans on Twitter noticed something familiar about the third Betis goal:
